State police have arrested a North Smithfield man after a crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian.
The incident occurred at around 9:40 p.m. Wednesday night; troopers say two men were walking south on the right shoulder of the northbound lanes when they were struck by a car reportedly driven by 25-year-old Nicholas Stone.
One of the victims, 63-year-old Thomas Lamoureux of North Smithfield was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other man was hospitalized.
Troopers say Stone reportedly drove away from the scene and struck a RIPTA bus in his flight, but was later captured.
He faces numerous charges including driving under the influence, and driving to endanger, resulting in death and refusal to submit to a field sobriety test.
