Governor Dan McKee has fired a State House staff member over comments made about the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Miguel Sanchez, who also sits on the Providence City Council, announced on Monday that he was fired as a constituent liaison to the governor's office.
Sanchez has been critical of Israel's conduct in the war with Hamas and accused Israel of committing "genocide" against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
In a social media post on Monday, Sanchez condemned all violence against civilians and reiterated support for a cease-fire.
