Rebate Seeks To Encourage E-Bike Sales In State

Rhode Islanders are being encouraged to purchase electric bicycles, also known as e-bikes.

A rebate program that began one year ago is offering a cash rebate on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Office of Energy Resources says the program covers new e-bikes purchased in-state, or through an online retailer with physical roots in Rhode Island.

Motorbikes or conversation kits are not covered; residents must first purchase an e-bike and then make an application through the state's website.
