Storm Gone- Cleanup - Power Restoration Remain

Thousands of residents across southern New England remain without power due to Monday's storm.

Power companies are starting to make headway; a spokesperson for Rhode Island Energy says he expects most customers will have their service restored by this evening.

Most - but not all of the outages have been reported in the central third of the state.

Rainfall totals across the region averaged two to four inches; up to 6-point-7 inches was recorded in Coventry, 5-point-15 inches in Greenville, and just under four inches in Cranston.

Several gates of the Providence hurricane barrier were closed but have since reopened. Flooding is still expected in several low-lying areas.
