State Representative Barbara Ann Fenton-Fung will seek the mayor's office in Cranston this fall, and provide a challenge to incumbent Mayor Ken Hopkins in the Republican primary.
Fenton-Fung is in her second term and is married to former Mayor Allan Fung, whom Hopkins unseated in 2020. Fenton-Fung is set to make her formal announcement at a fundraiser in Pawtuxet Village on January 30th.
Hopkins has indicated he will run for re-election and recently received the support of Democratic Governor Dan McKee.
The GOP primary is set for September 10th.
City Councilman Robert Ferri is expected to seek the Democratic nomination.
