Governor's Budget Proposes Doing More With Less

Governor Dan McKee's proposed budget for the coming fiscal year totals 13-point-seven billion dollars.

The document is two-point-four-percent less than the previous year and is due in part to less available federal funding since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

There are no sales or income tax increases, but the governor is calling for a reduction in the corporate minimum tax of 50-dollars per year.

McKee also seeks to increase the cigarette tax by a quarter, plus taxiing e-cigarettes and vape products for the first time.

There are also four bond initiatives, which the governor wants placed on the November ballot.
