Bill Would Legalize "Office Pools"

A bill to allow social gaming in Rhode Island has been introduced in the House.

North Providence state Representative William O'Brien says “With legalized sports betting being advertised on television and gambling odds being discussed during televised games, now is the time to make every office pool or good-natured wager between friends and family legal as well. This is a reasonable and practical bill that corrects this issue in state law that may technically make someone’s grandmother or uncle into a criminal during the Super Bowl or March Madness,” said Representative O’Brien.

The bill has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee.
