The National Weather Service is continuing its Winter Weather Warning for the rest of the day for most of the state with the exception of Block Island.
Snow will arrive overnight and will fall at a rate of 1 to 2 inches an hour impacting the morning commute and making travel difficult throughout the day.
Generally 6 to 12 inches of snow is forecast in the Providence area with more to the north and a bit less along the coast where there could be a mix with rain.
Winds gusting 30 to 45 miles per hour, strongest along the coast will, reduce visibility and could cause power outages.
