The deaths of two inmates in separate incidents are under investigation by state authorities.
On Friday, a male inmate being held at the maximum security facility in Cranston collapsed while playing basketball - efforts to revive him failed.
Early Sunday morning, a woman who had been committed to the facility just a few hours before was found unresponsive.
She later died at an area hospital. Rhode Island State Police and the Department of Corrections are handling the cases.
The identities of the two inmates were not released.
