- New parking meters are being installed in Providence.
More than eleven hundred of the new meters will go up, through the use of one and a quarter million dollars of federal American Rescue Plan Act funds.
Mayor Brett Smiley says the meters have not been replaced since 2007, and the new models should last 20 years.
All meters will be active during the hours of 8 am to 9 pm Monday through Saturday.
Rates will remain the same, at 1-dollar-25-cents per hour and 75 cents for 30-minute meters.
The Passport Parking app will also be available.
