According to a new report childcare continues to be a financial burden on Rhode Island families.
Child Care Aware for America found the average cost of care nationwide was about 11-thousand-600-dollars per child annually.
Rhode Island KIDS COUNT said that locally the cost is about 17-thousand-dollars a year per child.
According to the report, Rhode Island is one of 11 states where childcare costs are at least twice as much as rent.
The report for example says that the state has the fifth least affordable childcare for four-year-olds.
Only Vermont, New York, Oregon and Washington have higher costs in that category.
