Some Pharmacists Seek Union In RI CVS Stores

Pharmacists at CVS stores in Wakefield and Westerly are moving to unionize.

They voted last week to join the Pharmacy Guild. Pharmacy technicians in the Wakefield store also filed to unionize in the near future.

According to the Guild, the decision to unionize is based on declining patient safety standards.

Corporate chains like Woonsocket-based CVS and Walgreens have experienced severe pharmacist shortages since early in the pandemic.
