Over 200 people in East Providence are going to lose their jobs early next year.
Singapore-based Ennovi Advanced Mobility Solutions, which makes parts for electric vehicles, will close its manufacturing plant in Rumford in January 2025.
In a letter to the state Department of Labor and Training, a company spokesperson said the closure is based on a realignment and consolidation of its North American manufacturing sites.
“Our administration has received a WARN letter from Ennovi Advanced Mobility Solutions informing us that their longstanding business within our community will be closing its doors, impacting 200 plus jobs,” Mayor Bob DaSilva said. “The City of East Providence is currently collaborating with local manufacturers and the Rhode Island Manufacturers Association (RIMA) to host a job fair for the impacted employees.”
City officials said a job fair is planned for those impacted by the closure, but a date has not yet been scheduled.
