Iconic Italian Bakery, Restaurant Both Closing In Cranston

Two longtime Cranston businesses have announced they are closing.

In a social media post made on Tuesday, Solitro's Bakery said its owner is retiring and they will be closing after 75 years in business. The bakery's last official day will be August 18.

"After 75 years in business, we have made the decision to retire. The building is being sold and there will be no one else that will carry on our name and business. We are excited for the next chapter in our lives but we will miss you all. You know what they say “how lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”

Wein-O-Rama has also announced it's closing after 62 years.

Cranston Mayor Ken Hopkins issued a statement saying it's sad to see these storied dining establishments announcing the closure of their doors, but we understand the owners have each announced they are looking forward to retirement.
