Report Card In On School Absenteeism In State

Attendance is improving in Rhode Island's public schools.

There were over 244-thousand fewer absences during the 2023-2024 school year.

Increased attendance meant an estimated four-point-two percent drop in chronic absenteeism from the previous school year.

State Education Commissioner Angelica Infante-Green said those numbers are a "big win," even if chronic absenteeism rates are still above pre-pandemic levels.
