Providence Police Arrest Father Of Seven-Year-Old Shooting Victim

Providence Police have arrested the father of a seven-year-old girl who was killed while sitting in the back seat of a car on August 29th.

Twenty-seven-year-old Nelson Pires is charged with two counts of child endangerment and driving on a suspended license in connection with the shooting on Florence Street.

Investigators believe Pires was involved in an altercation with the suspects before the shooting and his actions demonstrated a disregard for the safety and well being of his children.

Pires is scheduled to appear in court today. Two suspects have been arrested and charged with murder in the case.
