Governor Dan McKee believes demolition of the westbound Washington Bridge will resume soon.
The work to take down the bridge was put on hold last week at the request of the state's legal team so evidence of the bridge failure could be preserved for ongoing legal actions against the companies that worked on the span.
McKee says he's not expecting that legal proceedings will begin before the demolition resumes and the attorney general indicates that the work will start soon.
There are other developments in the bridge story. The Governor, along with the congressional delegation announcing a 125 million dollar mega grant has been awarded the state for the demolition.
And, there are new cost estimates for the demolition and the rebuild.
State officials say it is somewhere in the neighborhood of some 426 million dollars.
