Providence Schools Confirm Unauthorized Access To Computer Network

Providence Public Schools have now confirmed that there was unauthorized access to its computer network earlier this month.

In a letter to Providence school families Superintendent Javier Montañez said an unverified, anonymous group has claimed that they have PPSD files.

He says while officials cannot confirm the authenticity of these files and verify the claims, there could be concerns that the alleged documents could contain personal information.

The school system has partnered with third-party IT agency to provide support and a vendor with expertise in cyber security to launch a forensic analysis.
