Volunteers from the Red Cross of Rhode Island have deployed to Florida to assist with Hurricane Helene relief.
The team headed south pre-landfall to assist with evacuation shelters and feeding stations for residents in the path of the storm.
Helene is no longer a hurricane, but even as a tropical storm it's still packing a punch as it moves across Georgia.
The storm has maximum sustained winds of 70 miles per hour.
Tornadoes could be a possibility this morning in eastern Georgia, the Carolinas and southern Virginia.
Rhode Islanders can help in the hurricane recovery efforts by making a donation through RedCross.org.
