Former Correctional Officer Sentenced For Smuggling Contraband

A former corrections officer has been sentenced for trying to smuggle drugs into the Wyatt Detention Center.

Twenty-six-year-old Kristopher White has received credit for time served and two years of probation, with the first six months in home confinement with GPS monitoring.

White previously admitted in federal court that while on duty, he tried to deliver papers soaked with a Schedule One, synthetic cannabinoid.

Prosecutors say White was approached by an inmate who wanted him to bring drugs into the facility.

The inmate's texts and phone calls were being monitored and White was arrested when he tried to bring the contraband to the inmate.
