Brown University Will Not Divest From Companies Invested in Israel

The governing body of Brown University has rejected calls to divest from ten companies that students said were facilitating the “Israeli Occupation of the Palestinian territory.”

The corporation of Brown University says that the university has no direct investments in any of the companies that students demanded divestiture from.

The Corporation also told students that any kind of indirect exposure for the university is so small that it could not be directly responsible for social harm.

Among the companies being targeted were General Dynamics, GE Raytheon and United Technologies.

The letter to students also said that divesting would ultimately hurt the university- since it would indicate approved points of view.
