Providence City Council Passes Amendment To Prohibit New Gas Stations

A Providence City Council committee has passed an amendment that would prohibit the construction of new gas stations.

The Committee on Ordinances voted last night on the amendment that was introduced by Senior Deputy Majority Leader John Goncalves to support the plan to move toward the use of hybrid and electric vehicles.

If the ten-year-plan is approved by the full council, the amendment would be enacted through a zoning ordinance.
