Governor Dan McKee, Rhode Island's Congressional Delegation, and the Office of Energy Resources have awarded two-point-75-million-dolars in Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grants.
The funds are being awarded to municipalities to support carbon emission reductions, reduce long-term energy use, and improve the efficiency of municipal properties.
U.S. Senator Jack Reed says the federal funding will help the state and local communities save money on their energy bills.
One-point-5-million-dollars in federal funding comes from the U.S. Department of Energy's Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and one-point-25-million comes from the state's Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative program.
