RIDEM Says Fire Ban Remains In Effect Until Further Notice

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management says the fire ban it issued Monday will remain in effect until further notice due to the elevated risk of wildfires.

The ban means residents are prohibited from open fires at state parks, campgrounds, and management areas and it includes campfires, charcoal fires, and cooking fires.

RIDEM also says the public is reminded to be careful with wood stoves and cigarettes, and to dispose of the ashes in a metal bucket of water.
