Ethics Commission Considering Expanding "Gift Giving"

The Rhode Island Ethics Commission is reexamining the state's "gift rule."

The ethics panel voted to revisit the rule that currently prohibits any "interested party" from giving a gift that exceeds 25-dollars to a public official.

A government watchdog group petitioned to expand the rule to include lobbyists.

The commission is now tasked with writing new rules that would require public input.
