Rhode Island Democratic Senator Jack Reed issued a statement after opposing the confirmation of Kash Patel to lead the FBI.
Reed says Patel is the most partisan, ideological, and extremist pick for the critical position.
He says Patel has no experience as a senior law enforcement officer and was chosen for his "submissive fealty to Donald Trump and rabid willingness to serve Trump's personal interest" instead of the public interest.
The Senate confirmed Patel by a vote of 51-to-49. Senators Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins were the only Republicans voting against Patel.
