A U.S. Postal Service employee has been sentenced to three years of federal probation for stealing mail during the holiday season in 2023.
Willie Estrella of Providence pleaded guilty last November to charges of conspiracy to steal mail and theft of mail by a postal employee.
Estrella and other employees would put aside mail that they thought contained cash, checks or gift cards, then open the mail and split the contents.
