Convicted Murderer Seeks New Trial

The man found guilty of killing an elderly Woonsocket woman is seeking a new trial.

Twenty-seven-year-old Matthew Dusseault was convicted earlier this year of first-degree murder for the stabbing death of 81-year-old Constance Gauthier in 2016.

Dusseault is expected to appear in court today where attorneys will request a new trial.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 28th and prosecutors are seeking a sentence of life in prison without parole.
