Parole Denied For RI Murder Suspect

Parole has been denied for a Rhode Island man convicted in a 1982 murder.

This is the ninth time parole has been denied for James Hughes, the Third, who is serving a life sentence for killing Howard Harris at his North Kingstown furniture store.

The last time parole was denied for the 72-year-old Hughes was in March of 2023.

His next hearing was set for 2028, but he applied for geriatric parole, which requires a parole board hearing.

Hughes may again request parole in March of 2026.
