There is a declared blood supply emergency in Rhode Island.
The blood supply has dropped below a two-day inventory.
The Rhode Island Blood Center said today a seven-day supply is typically needed to meet hospital demands.
All types of blood are needed, especially types O-positive and O-negative.
The public is urged to make an appointment to donate a pint of blood.
