The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority is receiving 17 million dollars in federal funding to extend the life of the Mount Hope Bridge.
The Department of Transportation grant will fund a dehumidification project that's designed to prevent corrosion.
Officials say the work will help to preserve the bridge's cables and anchors.
It's expected to extend the life of the bridge by 50 to 75 years.
