Governor Dan McKee and other state leaders have announced the first round of housing bonds that municipalities and developers can apply for to help create more housing in Rhode Island.
The funding is part of a 120-million-dollar bond package approved by voters to help finance new construction and refurbish deteriorating buildings.
The governor says Rhode Island isn't just talking about the housing crisis - it's building its way out of it.
He says the programs will expand opportunities for homeownership, build and preserve affordable housing, and give communities the resources they need to reach the Housing 2030 goals.
