RI Congressional Delegation Declining Paychecks During Government Shutdown

Democratic members of Rhode Island's Congressional delegation are declining their paychecks during the federal government shutdown.

U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Representatives Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo say they have made the decision as a show of solidarity with the federal workers who are not being paid.

The delegation says it is important for both sides to come together in an effort to resolve their differences.

If they do, the delegation says that the healthcare system will be saved.

The shutdown began on October 1st and is the second-longest in U.S. history.
