Diocese Of Providence Announces Church Mergers

The Diocese of Providence has announced that several church communities will be merging.

On Sunday the Diocese informed parishioners that Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish and SS. Peter and Paul Parish will merge into St. Joseph Parish in West Warwick.

Bishop Bruce Lewandowski also approved the merger of St. Agnes Parish into St. Ann Parish in Providence.

The bishop says it is sad news for those who love their parishes and have supported them for decades.

He says, however that with God's help, the mergers will create stronger, more vibrant parishes so the Church can continue its ministry for years to come.
