Senator Whitehouse Issued Statement Following Healthcare Vote

Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse has released a statement after the Senate failed to advance a health care plan.

The Democratic lawmaker says Republicans refused to make good on their commitment to work in a bipartisan way to lower skyrocketing premiums.

He says they now own the massive fiscal disaster that's about to hit their constituents when health care premiums double in a matter of weeks.

The senator says the Republican plan to lower costs - doesn't lower costs at all.

He says the Democrats' proposal would extend premium tax credits for three years and insure 4-million more people, while reducing premiums.
