A man is critically injured after a New Year's Eve hammer attack in Providence.
The assault happened at around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on Putnam Street.
The victim was found outside of the building, and he told police the suspect was inside the home.
Police found the suspect passed out in the bathtub of a second-floor apartment and he was taken into custody.
The victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
