Governor Dan McKee has kicked off his Affordability for All Tour with an executive order that aims to lower energy costs while keeping the state on track to meet its climate goals.
The governor says Rhode Island will save one-billion-dollars in energy costs over the next five years by adjusting the state's renewable energy standard and taking advantage of low-cost, low-carbon resources like nuclear energy and hydropower.
He says that the Trump administration has changed the landscape and Rhode Island needs to stay competitive.
McKee says scaling back some clean energy mandates will align the state with Massachusetts and Connecticut.
