RI Senator Announces Investment To Improve Public Housing

Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed has announced nearly 28-million-dollars in federal funding to improve public housing and expand affordable housing opportunities.

Reed says 24 Rhode Island cities and towns will receive the money through the Public Housing Capital Fund.

The funding that's administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will help local communities preserve, develop, finance, and modernize public housing.

Housing authorities can allocate the federal funds to complete large-scale improvements, such as replacing roofs or making energy-efficient upgrades to heating and cooling systems.
