RIDOH Issues Overdose Spike Alert For Providence

The Rhode Island Department of Health has issued an overdose spike alert for Providence.

The alert comes after nearly two dozen nonfatal drug overdoses last week.

Health officials say the weekly threshold for emergency room visits is 19, and there were 20 nonfatal overdoses in Providence.

Even though there is a spike alert for Providence, the state as a whole remains under the threshold of 63 nonfatal overdoses with 53 incidents.
