Secretary of State Gregg Amore says the State House will be open for special Saturday hours in May in recognition of Rhode Island Independence Day.
Amore says as the nation celebrates its 250th year, Rhode Islanders should be proud to first recognize their Independence Day when the state was the first to renounce its allegiance to the Crown.
On Saturday, May 2nd, the State House will be open from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. for abbreviated tours and State Archives staff will have the Act of Renunciation on display.
There will also be Rhode Island 250-themed exhibits will be on display.
