Senator Whitehouse, GOP Colleague Introduce Medicare Reform

Rhode Island Democratic Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Republican colleague Roger Marshall of Kansas have introduced the Medicare Advantage Improvement Act.

The legislation aims to reform Medicare Advantage and ensure that seniors receive the reliable, patient-centered care the program promises.

Currently, prior authorization by insurers forces patients and providers to seek advance approval for care even when medically necessary.

Whitehouse says Americans are fed up with health care bureaucracy, and prior authorization is one of the worst offenders by delaying treatment, driving up costs, and putting paperwork ahead of patients.
