Feds Seize Counterfeit Fentanyl Pills In Providence Bust

The Drug Enforcement Administration says agents seized around 55-thousand counterfeit fentanyl pills in a Providence drug bust.

Federal officials say the pills are allegedly connected to the Sinaloa cartel, a violent, Mexico based cartel.

Providence and East Providence police were also involved in the DEA investigation.

Local law enforcement officials say the outcome of the case reflects the effectiveness of regional task forces and strong interagency collaboration to combat the illegal distribution of dangerous narcotics and firearms.
