Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed wants to see a copy of an IRS document that according to the New York Times, outlines critical flaws with the President's settlement with the agency.
In a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Internal Revenue Service CEO Frank Bisignano, the senator criticizes the Department of Justice decision to settle without appearing in court or addressing flaws in the lawsuit.
Reed says the DOJ entered into a settlement creating a one-point-eight-billion-dollar taxpayer-financed fund that the President will be able to control without truly independent oversight.
Reed is asking that the IRS memo be presented to the Senate Appropriations Committee by Thursday, May 28th.\
